Function Junction gas station and mixed residential/commercial project development permit has been approved.

On Tuesday, October 3, at the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s (RMOW council meeting, Líl̓wat received its requested development permit for a new gas station and mixed residential/commercial building. Part of the Olympic Legacy, the 2.15 ha. (5.3 acre) parcel has been part of Líl̓wat’s holdings since 2007 and solely owned by the Nation since 2010.

The new project is an important part of LBG’s Economic Development Strategy 2016-2021. The new facility is scheduled to complete build out of a gas station and four buildings over the next three to four years.

“It’s been a long process,” says Kerry Mehaffey, CEO of Lílwat Business Group, of getting the permit through the RMOW. We see the new development as being a win-win for both communities.

“For Líl̓wat it means new jobs and an increase own source revenues that can translate to increased services. For Whistler it means increased housing, additional commercial space and the convenience of a new gas station at the southern entrance to the community.”
