There will be more road construction occurring on the In shuck ch FSR this fall and winter. The plan is to start construction in November on a Ministry of Forests section between 42.8km and 43.7km. This section of road has to be constructed in 2 phases with phase 1 being completed by January 2014. Phase 1 is the section between 43.18km and 43.7km. This section will have some rock that will need to be blasted and as such will have to have a few road closures of up to 4 hours to clear the debris after the blast.
The second phase between 42.8km and 43.18km will require working within the freshet high water mark of the Lillooet River and cannot be done until the river is at low water which is between September 1st 2014 and February 1st 2015. The construction within the freshet high water mark of the river has been vetted through the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The Ministry will have a qualified environmental professional on site for the work conducted within the freshet high water mark to ensure all environmental requirements are met.
There will be construction located between 46.7km and 47.6km on the Skookumchuck IR this winter, as well. I do not anticipate that there will be any lengthy delays or road closures on this section. It will be similar to what we did there this summer on the other section that has been completed between 47.6km and 48.6km.
If you have any concerns with the planned construction this fall and winter, please let Malcolm or myself know. We will endeavour to keep you informed on the construction plans and provide information on any planned road closures well in advance so that you may inform the communities.
