BC Hydro has a scheduled outage on October 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please prepare yourselves for this:

In our case, water to our homes is provided by a well, which runs on electricity. The Public Works department will ensure the holding tanks are completely full prior to the scheduled outage. However, please use the water and toilets sparingly.

Health and Safety

Check on family members with special needs, or special equipment such as oxygen tanks or other medical equipment; ensure that you have a back-up plan.

For most of the effected households, the biggest issue will be Fridge and Freezer problems. The less the doors are opened, the longer the temperature will remain within an acceptable level. For Standalone freezers try not to open the doors at all and cover the units with a blanket.  Putting Bags of ice in the fridge compartment can help extend the amount of time the Fridge stays cold.

A few things you should have on hand during a power outage:

  • Flashlights and extra batteries
  • Fully charged cell phones
  • Bottled water
  • Warm clothing and blankets
