Summary:

The Finance Department  is responsible for the accounting functions of the Nation. This includes budget preparation, monthly monitoring/reconciliation, cash flow, accounts receivable and payable, payroll and benefits. The daily function of the department requires timely and accurate flow of data, organized paper trails and team work.

The Finance Assistant is mainly responsible for the data entry of invoices and assisting the accounts payable coordinator in processing payments. The Finance Assistant reports directly to the Finance Manager, however, they will take direction from the Director of Finance and the Program Accountants as necessary. In carrying out these duties, the Finance Assistant will work closely with all members of the finance department and be willing to provide support across all areas.

Key Deliverables:

  • Data entry of invoices and vouchering
  • Performing duties of the accounts payable coordinator when required
  • Filing to support program accountants, accounts payable and receivable staff
  • Prepare reconciliation reports as requested
  • Assist team members with workload as required
  • Involvement in other adhoc projects 

Key Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Accounting courses and experience is an asset
  • Strong computer literacy with data entry experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn
  • Proven skills with Microsoft office and SAGE software
  • Team player who has shown to be flexible and reliable as needed
