Title:                      Human Resource Manager

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and working with the Senior Leadership Team and staff, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, professional knowledge and guidance/ support in the design/ development, management, administration and evaluation of Líl̓wat Nation human resource management affairs, including plans, policies, programs, processes/ procedures, information systems, reports, and files.  The Human Resource Department of the Líl̓wat Nation is comprised of two full-time staff.

Summary of Duties:

  • Overall oversight of the Human Resources function for the Líl̓wat Nation and Líl̓wat Business Group
  • Supporting recruitment, training, and onboarding functions
  • Acting as a resource to management regarding performance management and policies/ procedures
  • Participating in the planning of HR programs and services, including the development, implantation, and maintenance of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, standards, controls and guidelines
  • Developing and executing training programs for the organization
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, legislation and policies
  • Identifying measures of success for future planning

About the Ideal Candidate:

  • Related post-secondary degree/ diploma and formal training directly related Human Resources
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
  • Minimum of 6-8 years within the professional field of Human Resource Management, including three or more years at the management level
  • Experience in the development and management/ administration of Human Resource plans, policies, and programs including, organization design, recruitment/ employment, direct and indirect compensation, employee performance evaluation and development, health and safety, harassment/ violence in the workplace, employee discipline, and funding
  • Experience working with related federal and provincial government standards/ statutes, regulations, programs and AgenciesExcellent leadership, management, administration, development, coaching, communications (oral and written), organizational, consultative and training skills
  • First Nations experience
  • Criminal record check will be required
