The Maintenance/Janitor worker will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning the Tśzil Learning Centre.

Status:                          Temporary, Full-Time
Reporting to:            Operations Coordinator
Wage/Salary:           $15.00/hour-$17.00/hour

Summary:

This contract completes on March 31st, 2019. The Maintenance/Janitor worker will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning the Tśzil Learning Centre.

 Key Deliverables:

  • Prepares a systematic approach to the cleaning, repair, and maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and related facilities.
  • Manages the landscaping and outdoor area around facility
  • Assembles products when needed
  • Assists janitor with daily cleanliness of all areas
  • Performs minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing maintenance work
  • Repairs damage to floors, walls, windows
  • Moves furniture/equipment as required
  • Assists with preparing rooms for room rentals
  • Collects and dispose of garbage/recycled materials
  • Removes snow and ice control activities
  • Oversees the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment
  • Services and maintains all equipment
  • Organizes and maintains designated storage spaces, tools and supplies in an orderly fashion
  • Maintains an up to date inventory of tools and supplies
  • Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures
  • Assists the team and leader with other deliverables as required

 Key Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Completion of grade 10
  • Building Service Worker 1 – 3 training an asset
  • Carpentry skills and experience, a must
  • Knowledge of other trades, an asset
  • Must be able to work during evenings and weekends
  • 1 year’s experience as a maintenance worker
  • Experience as a janitor an asset
  • Ability to use and maintain janitorial equipment such as brooms, mops, vacuums
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Attention to detail and strong ability to take initiative
  • Listening and communication skills – able to take direction well
