Title: Manager of Trades & Training
Location: Ts’zil Learning Centre, Mount Currie, B.C.
Status: Temporary, Full-time
Reporting to: Lisa Fisher, Manager of Advanced Education & Training
Hours of work: 35 per week
Summary: This contract completes October 31, 2018. The Manager of Trades & Training will oversee two staff members: the Employment Support Coordinator and a part-time office worker. The Manager of Trades & Training will oversee the Carpentry Level 1 program and support the participants in finding and sustaining employment, as well as the end of the Industry Certificate & Training Program Industry Trades program, which ends March 31, 2018.
Key Deliverables:
- Oversee, coordinate and manage all aspects of the Carpentry Training and Industry Training Program
- Responsible for program budgets, including monthly tracking, invoicing, and reports
- Oversee program recruitment, including participant intake, screening and selection process
- Complete all reports and post-program client tracking as required by funders
- Supervise workshop facilitators to ensure excellence in programming and delivery
- Build/maintain strong relationships with employers and organizations in Mt. Currie, Pemberton and Whistler
- Assist participants in breaking down barriers and addressing issues and concerns
- Supervise and support the Employment Support Coordinator in ensuring clients are successful in completing their training programs and acquire/retain employment
Experience & Expertise:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, or relevant field an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a First Nations Community
- 3-5 years’ experience project management/coordinating programs and managing complex budgets
- Minimum 2 years of office administration experience
Key Qualifications and Attributes:
- Excellent relationship building skills and motivation to network in the industry to maintain partnerships
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner and work effectively both on-and off-reserve
- An ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relations with the Band Office staff, local employers and the Chambers of Commerce for Pemberton and Whistler
- Knowledge and understanding of the Líl̓wat Nation’s culture, history
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a strong ability in report writing
- Advanced level computer skills and knowledge, including knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook & Excel)and proficient data management skills
- Capable of working flexible hours (evenings/weekends) when required ; Valid BC Driver’s License, Vehicle and Drivers Abstract
- Criminal background check required
