The Land and Resources Department is seeking an individual who is interested in working as Temporary Full-Time Environmental Field Crew Supervisor for the Líl̓wat Nation Lands and Resources Department.  The work is scheduled to be from July and continue until the end of March 2021.  Duties will include preparing and implementing workplans for environmental field work projects, supervising and carrying out environmental monitoring and data collection field duties, such as the collection of water quality samples, using GPS, and electrofishing.  The successful candidate will be required to complete field reports and data entry.  Candidates must have strong communication and organizational skills, have a solid knowledge and understanding of outdoor safety, be physically fit and be prepared to work outdoors in all conditions.  We are seeking candidates who can contribute to a positive team environment.

Additionally, we will be seeking candidates with abilities to assist in the set-up for projects such as the salmon enumeration work site which entails the installation of the fence weir into the river.  We encourage applications from those with the skills and experience in and about rivers and streams and in rough terrain.


  • Support the Fisheries and Environmental Manager in the planning and management of environmental monitoring and environmental data collect projects
  • Assist in the scheduling and organization of the on-call Environmental Field Technicians
  • Complete project field reports and data entry according to required reporting standards
  • Ensure field safety procedures are followed
  • Be punctual, reliable and prepared to work outside in all conditions
  • Supervise and conduct environmental monitoring and data collection field duties
  • Ensure daily activity reports and daily truck logs are completed
  • Track and manage the use of field equipment and tools
  • Support and role model values and vision of Líl̓wat Nation
  • Assist with other deliverables as required

Qualifications Required:

  • Valid BC Driver’s license Class 5 or Class 7(N) license is a requirement
  • Level 1 first aid
  • Environmental Monitoring Technician Certificate or equivalent
  • Physical ability to work in and about the rivers, streams, and rough terrain
  • Knowledge and understanding of outdoor safety procedures
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and use of web applications
  • Proven ability to complete written reports that meet established reporting requirements.
  • Ability to operate a Global Positioning System (GPS)
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Previous experience in data analysis
  • Owns or access to use of a vehicle
  • Swift-water and Flood Rescue Certification
  • RISC Archaeological & CMT Training Certificate
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Líl̓wat Nation culture, history and traditional territory
