This summer, Líl̓wat Forestry Ventures (LFV) will be supporting Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations throughput the province. LFV standby crews are staying in Mount Currie to respond in case of a fire emergency in the Sea to Sky.  Currently, LFV has four firefighting crews with a fifth crew being developed.

Each crew comprised of five persons one supervisor, and four fighters. Each group must have a certain set of certified by the Ministry of Forests as contract firefighting crews. LFV is a BC Forestry SAFE Certified company and safety is the primary focus of all of its work. LFV crews̓ training exceeds government requirements for contract crews in Western Canada. It is the result of ongoing training and development that LFV is able have up to 25 people working.

Firefighting fits very well into LFV’s work plan for the year, as other work is shut down for fire danger; LFV is able to integrate the crews. This work is in addition to the slashing, tree planting, brushing and spacing work, LFV contractors do. LFV employees pride themselves on being professional wild land firefighters.

To each and every one of LFV firefighters, we say thank you for all that you do.
