Whistler Blackcomb assistant corporate controller joins Líl̓wat leadership team

Catherine Webster, CGA/CPA, has joined Líl̓wat Nation as its new finance director.

Webster, who will assume her new role on June 12, is currently assistant corporate controller at Whistler Blackcomb where she has worked for the past 11 years, starting in 2006 as senior accountant.

Her decision to move from a public company to a First Nation’s government was based on what Líl̓wat had to offer, both professionally and personally.

“I really wanted to get into an organization that measures its success on what it brings to the community,” said Webster. “I’m excited to work with Líl̓wat Nation as it’s the first Nation in western Canada to have received Financial Management Systems (FMS) certification from the First Nations Financial Management Board.”

Webster will be responsible for ensuring the FMS, which guarantees financial best practices, is adhered to as part of providing oversight to all Líl̓wat Nations financial functions.

“Catherine brings with her a wealth of experience that will strengthen our finance department,” said Líl̓wat Nation COO Ernest Armann. “Her leadership, communications style and coaching skills will help us build capacity and ensure excellence in the day-to-day functions of the department.”

In addition to being a CGA/CPA, Webster also holds a Masters of Science in Mathematics from the University of British Columbia.
