Starting next fall it gets more affordable than ever for young Líl̓wat Nation Citizens to enjoy skiing or snowboarding at Whistler Blackcomb.

Before you sign your child or teenager up for an early bird WB local youth ski pass, please note that there are two new opportunities for Líl̓wat youth to ski or ride at Whistler Blackcomb next season (2017/18) for free.

Free Lessons for school-aged children and youth

Líl̓wat Citizens between the ages of 5 and 18 years old are eligible for complimentary Whistler Blackcomb ski/ride lift rental and lesson packages. This program, which has the lessons delivered mid-week, will be organized by the Li̓l̓wat Recreation Department and offered on non-instructional school days when possible.

Free Ski Passes for youth aged 15 to 18

Complimentary ski passes will be given to Líl̓wat Citizens between the ages of 15 and 18 years old, provided they meet the following criteria:

  1. Have demonstrated that they can ski/ride safely and confidently on Whistler Blackcomb’s intermediate runs in a variety of snow conditions and terrain (currently referred to as Whistler Kids Level 4*)
  2. Have completed a mountain awareness session (incorporated into Whistler Blackcomb ski lessons)

Information on how to sign up for the lessons or a skills assessment clinic will be made available through the Líl̓wat Recreation Department in the fall.

Also, please note, these new opportunities for Líl̓wat youth will not change any other programs such as the First Nations Snowboard Program, that are currently being provided by Whistler Blackcomb to First Nation recreational organizations

* Youth that have not taken Whistler Kids Level 4 instruction can attend a skills assessment clinic to demonstrate that they meet the criteria for the free pass.
