After getting through the weekend nice and dry Chief and Council and the Emergency Planning and Operations Committee would like to thank the community and our neighbours for the amazing sandbagging efforts we saw last week. On Thursday alone 2512 sandbags were put on the line and that was before the high school grades from Xit’olacw School spent hours at the sandbagging station on Friday.
We were lucky this weekend and the banks of the Birkenhead held the snow melt that the warm weather caused but the risk of flooding for our community is not yet over. Thanks to your efforts we are more prepared than ever to help protect those properties that always flood at this time of year.
