The Winds of Change is a collaborative public policy initiative of the Mount Currie Band and the Village of Pemberton to reduce the harm associated with drug and alcohol misuse and promoting healthy lifestyle choices as an alternative.
The Committee comprised of 18 members from various organization from both communities, will be hosting an awards event each year to recognize those individuals and organizations that have made positive contributions to supporting the Winds of Change initiatives and demonstrated their commitment to address the issue.
A Selection Committee comprised of members from the Winds of Change Steering Committee will consider all nominations to choose one recipient for each category. The recipients and nominator will be invited to attend the annual awards dinner to receive their recognition award. A representative from the Winds of Change Committee will present the award at the annual event.
There are 7 awards based on the following criteria:
North Wind: Promoting Healthy Lifestyle Choices
Recognizing an INDIVIDUAL from EACH community in the Pemberton, Mount Currie/N’Quatqua, or SLRD Area C area, that has made contributions to the greater community by promoting or exemplifying healthy lifestyle choices.

South Wind: Increasing Awareness
Recognizing ORGANIZATIONS in the Pemberton, Mount Currie/N’Quatqua or SLRD Area C area that have made contributions towards the education of or increased awareness of the risk factors associated with alcohol and drug use to creating a healthier environment in the community(ies).
East Wind: Improving Services
Recognizing VOLUNTEER GROUP or ORGANIZATION in the Pemberton, Mount Currie/N’Quatqua or SLRD Area C area that has taken proactive measures and helped improve services, assistance and/or support for the people who are on the path to a healthy recovery.

West Wind: Community Leadership and Responsibility
Recognizing COMMUNITY GROUP* and INDIVIDUAL that has demonstrated outstanding community leadership and responsibility by promoting or exemplifying healthy lifestyle choices and continuing to promote and address the issue of drug and alcohol use in our communities.
