Xet̓ólacw Community School Programs

Xet̓ólacw Community School offers a number of programs that can be enhanced by your donations. Donors can direct their funds to a specific program, or let the school administration apply funds where the need is greatest.

  • Hot Breakfast And Lunch Program
Approximately 150 children of the 239 students in the school take advantage of this program.
  • Language Immersion Program
Currently serving 22 students between the ages of four and eight years old, the Language Immersion Program requires funding for supplies and other resources necessary to expand the program. Donations assist Lil̓wat7úl children in learning Ucwalmícwts, instilling cultural pride and ensuring language preservation.
  • Special Needs Students Equine Therapy
Funding this Equine Therapy Program, which includes field trips and job experience programs, helps special needs students develop independence. Students emerge from this experience having a sense of purpose and pride.
  • Sports Program
Donating to the Xet̓ólacw Community School’s Sports Program ensures that cost is not a barrier to the development of potential athletes. Donations also support sports clinics, travel for competition outside the community and the purchase of sports equipment.
  • Stein Valley Hike For Personal And Spiritual Growth
The Stein Valley Hike For Personal And Spiritual Growth introduces students to this area of spiritual significance for the Líl̓wat people. Donations for this hiking and camping trip ensure that each child can participate in this experience at least once during their years attending Xet̓ólacw Community School. Elders, flown in by helicopter to join the students at the camp, enhance this cultural experience.
  • Strathcona Park Lodge and Outdoor Education Center Experience
Donating to this program ensures that Xet̓ólacw Community School counsellors can provide an opportunity for positive development to students identified as needing a personal growth experience.
