 Líl̓wat Nation citizens approve entering a  Canada-First Nation Education Jurisdiction Agreement

On Thursday, December 9, 2021, Líl̓wat Nation members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the nation entering into a Canada-First Nations Education Jurisdiction Agreement and adopting an Education Law-Making Protocol.  Of the 110 votes cast, 101 were in favour. The new agreement and protocol gives Líl̓wat Nation authority over the education of our children from K4 to Grade 12.

The vote was conducted by the Victoria-based firm, OneFeather Election Services. There report on the election process is on the first toggle to your right.

Líl̓wat Nation looks forward to implementing its new Education Jurisdiction Agreement in the coming year.

*Summary documents will be replaced once Líl̓wat Nation receives signed versions of these documents from the Government of Canada. The pandemic has slowed this process.
