LBG Group leverages relationship with PwC to secure 70 laptops and 40 portable monitors
(Líl̓wat Nation, April 2, 2025) — This spring, students at Xet̓ólacw Community School (XCS) won’t have to waste time staring at screens waiting for antiquated computers to start up thanks to a donation from PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Replacing student computers has long been on the wish list for Director of Education Verna Stager and she’s thrilled that the problems with the old computers will soon be a distant memory.
“The donation of these computers and monitors from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) really means a lot. The state of the old computers was frustrating to both our students and our teachers,” said Verna Stager. “When I looked into replacing what we had, it was going to cost $250,000. That quarter-million dollars was an unbudgeted expense. The money wasn’t there, but the need was. The old computers, with their constant glitches and long loading times, were affecting our students’ educations. Having them use poor performing technology was simply a time waster. We are so thankful for this amazing donation.”
The Director of Education reached out to the Líl̓wat Business Group (LBG) for help, hopeful that one of the business group’s corporate colleagues might be able to help out.
Within days of LBG CEO Rosemary Stager reaching out to her contacts, the international accounting and business services firm confirmed a donation of 70 gently used laptops and 40 monitors.
“I was very impressed at how quickly PwC responded to this ask. It means so much to have corporate colleagues that are truly invested in meeting the educational goals of Truth and Reconciliation,” said Rosemary Stager. “PwC’s generous donation will be a game changer for XCS. I am proud to have played a small part in making this happen. It really shows that LBG and PwC share a commitment to community.”
A formal exchange of the donation, with a Gifting Ceremony, will take place online on Aprill 11, 2025.
