Líl̓wat Nation Transition House

Stqaka7stúmc means “hold my hand,” a word that describes the support people receive when accessing Líl̓wat Nation’s purpose-built transition house. Stqaka7stúmc is committed to walking with women and Two-Spirit people while they make the difficult transition from living in an abusive, violent environment to living a positive independent lifestyle.

The transition house offers 24-hour intake 7 days a week.

Who can access Stqaka7stúmc?

All single women, women with children and Two-Spirit people fleeing from domestic violence: physical (including sexual assault), verbal, financial or spiritual can access Stqaka7stúmc.

You do not have to be Indigenous to access Stqaka7stu̓mc.

Stqaka7stu̓mc requires those accessing the transition house to be sober from alcohol for at least 24 hours and be sober from hard drugs for at least one week.

What you can expect at Stqaka7stu̓mc

Residents receive basic life skills, advocacy and support but are expected to be as independent as possible.

Stqaka7stu̓mc can provide transportation for grocery shopping and local medical appointments

What you should bring

If possible, please bring identification and other important documents, clothes and medications for yourself and your children. If it is not possible to bring these items,  staff can assist you in getting what you need when you are in residence.

How to get to Stqaka7stúmc

Stqaka7stúmc does not offer transportation to or from the house, but we can assist with finding transportation for those in need. Walk-ins are welcome.
